LOAN CLOSET

Have you ever used a "loaner" when your car was in the shop? Sometimes, people need to borrow medical equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs or shower chairs, just as you might borrow a loaner car.

In Northwest Arkansas, the Loan Closet at SOURCES for Community Independent Living has an assortment of durable medical equipment to loan to anyone in the region, free of charge.

Crutches, commodes, motorized and non-motorized wheelchairs, transfer boards, canes and other assistive devices are loaned to those in need. The Loan Closet is used by people who have temporary needs as they recover from a surgery, those with newly-acquired disabilities, people whose needs are evolving, and those who need to borrow something while they wait for a repair or replacement of their own equipment.

How Does the Loan Closet Work?

The Loan Closet at SOURCES receives donated new and gently-used durable medical equipment from people who no longer need it. The pieces are cleaned and refurbished so they are ready for the next person to borrow, for as long as they need it. When equipment is returned, it is checked for safety and can be returned to the closet for another use. SOURCES is able to provide useful equipment to many people over multiple years.

How Do I Borrow Equipment?

All you need to do is contact us. The Loan Closet equipment is loaned free of charge to people in Benton, Washington, Madison and Carroll counties in Arkansas, with no eligibility requirement.

Typically, items are loaned out for short periods of time, depending on the circumstances of each individual's request. We will discuss this with you to see how we can fully accommodate your needs.

To learn more about the current inventory, please call SOURCES AT 479-442-5600 or use the Contact Us form here.

Can I Donate Equipment to the Loan Closet?

When you no longer need medical equipment, please consider donating or returning it to the SOURCES Loan Closet. Most small medical equipment is accepted, as long as it is in good condition. We will be happy to provide you with a written acknowledgement of your donation for tax purposes. To discuss a donation, please contact SOURCES.

In What Other Ways Can I Help?

You can make a financial donation to the Loan Closet to add new equipment, replace wheelchair batteries and refurbish items in the closet before they are again placed on loan. Your tax-deductible donation will ensure that the Loan Closet at SOURCES is available to help the next family in need, and is very much appreciated.
